About Intermodal Shipping, Inc.

INTERMODAL SHIPPING, INC. (IMSI) is a corporation registered in the Philippines in accordance with Philippine laws. It is licensed to operate as shipping and manning agency as defined by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and other relevant Philippine regulatory authorities.

The company was established in 1970 (then known as Intermodal Shipping Agencies, Inc.) as a trampship agent for foreign Shipowners. From the ship agency business, the company expanded to include ship management.

The initial success in the two original ventures led the company to diversify in other shipping endeavours – ship manning services, NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carriers) cargo solicitation and container control.

"We're more than 40 years in the Business."

During the mid-80s, the crisis in the international shipping industry adversely affected IMSI’s tramper operations, ship management and NVOCC Principals which compelled it to trim its activities in these areas. It focused its attention on ship manning (crewing) services, providing Filipino marine officers and crew for international shipping concerns with a diversified fleet of bulkers, tankers, car carriers, reefers, container ships, loggers, dry cargo vessels and live fish carriers.

The company also provides services for the registration and certification in the Philippines, bareboat chartered by Philippine shipping companies.

As of 2013, the company has some 500 seafarers deployed in bulkers, general cargo vessels, product and oil tankers in world-wide trade and has registered and certificated, under the Philippine flag, a number of ocean-going ships, bareboat chartered by Philippine shipping concerns.

Through all these years, the company has developed extensive connections in both government and the private sector. It is a member of the Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment (FAME), Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council (PJMCC), Filipino Shipowners Association (FSA) and the Philippine Ship Agents Association (PSAA).
